Abstract

Children with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) are expected to develop gross motor skills and social abilities that support daily activities and interactions. One approach to facilitate this development is through yoga interventions that focus on enhancing gross motor skills, balance, and coordination. This Systematic Literature Review aims to examine the effectiveness of yoga interventions on the gross motor skills and social behavior of children with ASD. Data were collected by synthesizing and reviewing all relevant articles published between 2019 and 2024 in databases such as Google Scholar, PubMed, ScienceDirect, and Springer, using the Publish or Perish software. A total of seven articles met the inclusion criteria and were analyzed. The findings indicate that yoga interventions effectively improve gross motor skills, flexibility, and balance in children with ASD. Furthermore, yoga was shown to reduce problematic behaviors and enhance interpersonal skills, including coordination and imitation abilities. These results suggest that yoga can serve as a valuable intervention to support both motor and social development in children with ASD.
